Cancellation of non-functioning Cooperative societies. Other duties as per Cooperative Societies Act and Rules or Bye-Laws.
Definition of Cooperative Society	Cooperative Society is an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet common economic, social, and cultural needs through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise. Section 4(1) of the Nagaland Cooperative Societies Act 2017 defines Cooperative as “A Society whose objective is to promote the economic interest or general welfare of its members or of the public in accordance with Cooperative principles”.
Cooperative Society Acts Enforced	Currently enforced: Nagaland Cooperative Society Act 2017 Previously: Assam Cooperative Society Act 1949 Note: Drafting of the Nagaland Cooperative Societies Rules is ongoing. Assam Cooperative Societies Rules, 1953 still operative.
